How do I register for the 2019 Tyler Turkey Trot?
Click here to register online for the 2019 5K race and Kids’ Race. All registrations must be done online. Due to how we process our race bibs and chip timing, we will not be able to take onsite registrations. Deadline to register online will close on race day at 7:30AM.
What time should I plan to arrive to the Tyler Turkey Trot?
Participants should plan to allow plenty of time to get to the race start. The kids’ race begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K will start at 9:00 a.m. Athletes should expect to arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. to allow for parking, visiting concessions and vendors, and walking to the race start area.
How much does registration cost?
Early registration: June 1 - July 31, 2019, $25 per individual
Regular registration: August 1 - November 24, 2019, $35 per individual
Late Registration: November 25 - Race Day, $40 per individual
Group registration: A $5 discount applies for groups of 5.
Kids Dash Registration: Ages 12 and under, $15.
Is there a charge if I choose to be timed?
All registered 5K participants will have chip timers attached to their race bib. The charge for chip timing is included in your registration fee.
Are there runner corrals for timed runners?
Yes, runner corrals will be used for the 2019 event.
What is the Kids’ Dash? If I register my child for the Kids’ Dash, do I have to also register them for the 5K?
The Kids’ Race will be a total distance will be 200 – 400 meters depending on the age. Age divisions will be as follows: 10-12, 7-9, 4-6, and 3 & Under.
If your child wants to do both the Kids Dash and the 5K, we recommend registering them only for the Kids Dash. They will be able to do both the 5K and Kids Dash regardless of what event they are registered for. They will not be chip timed for the 5K.
If your child wants to be chip timed for the 5K, register them for that event. They will be able to do both the 5K and the Kids Dash.
Your child will receive a finisher medal based on the event they are registered and paid for.
Can I walk the 5K?
Yes, we have lots of walkers. We ask walkers to start at the back of the pack. The race course officially closes at 10:30a.m., which means walkers have approximately 1.5 hours to complete the 3.1-mile course.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, well-socialized, non-aggressive dogs are welcome at the Tyler Turkey Trot. Dogs may come as spectators with their owners or they may participate in the Tyler Turkey Trot with their owners. Dog owners are solely responsible for their pets’ actions and must agree to follow the Dog/Stroller Policy for the safety of all participants. *Please see Dog/Stroller Policy at bottom of page.
Is skating or cycling allowed?
As they travel at a higher speed, for the safety of others, rollerblades, roller skates, scooters and bicycles are not allowed.
Is there a place I can leave my jacket, bag, etc.?
Due to the size of the event, a gear check is NOT AVAILABLE to general event attendees. Tyler Turkey Trot participants are encouraged to keep their gear with them at all times.
Where do I pick up my packet?
Your packet will be available for pick up on specified dates and times. Check for updates on the Home page.
Can someone else pick up my packet?
Yes. The person picking up the packet(s) will need the participant’s name.
Can I use my own chip for timing?
No. The disposable timing tag will be on your runner bib.
Is there assistance available if I can’t do the whole course?
Yes, we have paramedics and police officers patrolling the course. If you need assistance, just ask a volunteer or an officer for help. We also have water stops and restrooms located on the course.
Are baby strollers allowed?
Absolutely, we welcome parents with children in strollers to participate in the Turkey Trot. We ask that you line up towards the back if you have a stroller.
Are there concessions available at the Turkey Trot?
The Turkey Trot will provide water and fruit for our participants at no charge. Other vendors and sponsors often provide additional refreshments.
What if it rains or snows? Will you still have the Turkey Trot?
No matter what the weather, the Turkey Trot will go on! Any possible weather delays will be communicated via email and on our Facebook page. Please “like” our Facebook page for all important announcements.
Where do I park when I get to the Turkey Trot?
There are several adjacent lots in the surrounding areas where you can park. We ask that you DO NOT park in Walgreen’s parking lot since they are open on Thanksgiving morning. We will have a police escort helping participants cross from the road crossing at Applebee’s to the Racquet & Jog parking lot.

Participants with dogs and/or strollers should line up at the back of the run/walk pack. Let the runners get up ahead so all may enjoy the course safely. We recommend participants with dogs and/or strollers walk the course, however if you choose to run the course with your dog/stroller, please use extreme caution for the safety of your child, your dog and others running around you. We want all pups, kids and participants to complete the course safely. Only dogs who are well-socialized with other dogs and people should be brought to the Turkey Trot. For the safety of all, please use your good judgment knowing your dog’s personality and behaviors. Dog owner/handlers must be 18 years of age or older. Dog owners/handlers may only be responsible for one dog at a time during the Trot. All dogs must be on an appropriate leash at all times. Fixed length/static leashes not longer than 3 feet should be used to prevent a hazard to other participants. Dog owner/handler is expected to be a responsible dog owner, provide appropriate water and pick up after their pet at all time.
